Do you think I would regret it if I wore a royal blue wedding dress?

I am getting married this year. We are paying for the whole wedding and I was going to pay for my dress. My mom, however, has stated that she would like to pay for it. I accepted and she then stated that since she was paying for it she wanted to shop with me. I was going to shop by myself and surprise everyone. But we went together and she freaked out when she heard my plan to have my dress dyed a royal blue. I wear blue all the time, actually I am never without blue. I thought about just doing a sash but when I went shopping for the first time I realized how truly awful I look in ivory, white, etc. I look like a pillar, it's not attractive and its HORRIBLE with my skin tone. The assistants were a little askance at the idea of dying a white dress blue, but when I tried on a bridesmaids dress they were astonished how much better I look in the color. Since I could not find a bridesmaids dress dramatic enough one of them suggested dying it and thye have someone that can do it for me. Now my my mom is saying that she will not purchase the blue dress. I would pay for it myself but I know (she is really sensitive) how she will react, she will throw a tantrum and make my life unpleasant and probably either threaten or really not come to the wedding (see why I wanted to pay myself?) I was stupid to accept and now I don't know how to get the gown I want wihtout offendign her, and part of me is afraid I might regret no white gown someday (although I still think it looks wier
